- Once you have found a Taxpayer Assistance Center near you, call to schedule an appointment. It is important to make an appointment ahead of time to ensure that you receive the assistance you need.
- Prepare for your appointment by gathering the necessary documents. Make sure to bring the following items with you:
- A current government-issued photo ID.
- A taxpayer identification number, such as a Social Security number.
- Any tax documents you will need.
- Please note that there are certain items you should not bring to your appointment. These include:
- Food or drinks
- Cameras
- Weapons
- If you need to apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or renew an ITIN, make sure to have your documents ready.
