At the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), we offer various options for making payments towards your tax obligations. Whether you need to make a full payment, a partial payment, or set up a payment plan, we have convenient methods to help you fulfill your tax responsibilities. Please note that penalties and interest will continue to accrue until the full balance is paid.
Pay Now
You have the option to make a payment immediately without signing up for an IRS Online Account. To ensure the security of your payment, you will need to confirm your identity before proceeding. Here are the available payment options:
Pay from Your Bank Account
This option is available for individuals only and does not require registration. There are no fees charged by the IRS for using this service. You can schedule payments up to a year in advance, providing flexibility and convenience.
Pay Now with Direct Pay
Individuals and businesses (excluding payroll tax deposits) can make payments using a debit card, credit card, or digital wallet. Please note that processing fees apply for this payment method.
Pay Now by Card or Digital Wallet
Similar to the previous option, you can make payments using a debit card, credit card, or digital wallet. Processing fees will be applicable.
Sign In to Pay
If you prefer to have access to your payment history and additional information, you can sign in using your credentials. Here are the available options:
Sign In to Make an Individual Tax Payment and See Your Payment History
This option is exclusively for individuals. Before using this service, you will need to create an IRS Online Account. Once signed in, you can view the amount you owe, details of your payment plan, payment history, and any scheduled or pending payments. Additionally, you can make same-day payments from your bank account for your balance, payment plan, estimated tax, or other types of payments.
Go to Your Account
By signing in, you can make a tax deposit payment or schedule estimated payments using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). Please note that enrollment is required to use this option. Once enrolled, you can make payments directly from your bank account. This service allows you to make same-day tax deposits, estimated taxes, Offer in Compromise (OIC) payments, or other types of payments.
